James J. McGuire

As a partner at MAAA, James is primarily engaged in the defense of cases involving municipal liability, premises liability, and automobile and truck accidents.

At St. John's Law School, James participated in the Sparacio Criminal Trial Competition, the Rogers Criminal Trial Competition and the Civil Law Institute Trial Competition, and interned with the Columbia County Public Defenders Office.

Since graduating law school, James has been engaged in trial practice, first as an Assistant District Attorney at the Columbia County District Attorneys Office, then as a litigation associate at several New York law firms, as in-house trial counsel at Global Liberty Insurance Company of New York, and as a sole practitioner. He has tried cases in all venues in the New York City metropolitan area and in multiple venues in upstate New York. Over a twenty-five year period, James has tried several hundred cases to verdict.

He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York State Young Lawyers Association, and the Insurance Bar of the State of New York.
